Emy Cañete reveals her tips to looking fresh all day

Ladies need to look pretty on any occasion or situation. If you look good, you feel good. Imagine running into an old flame or a well made-up former rival looking like a greeting card left in the mailbox too long – washed out and weather beaten. The old flame will thank his lucky stars he didn’t end up with you. And the former rival will tut-tut at how much you’ve changed over the years.

Besides always making sure you leave the house well-groomed, keep your kikay kit handy. You never know when you need to re-touch or prettify for an unexpected gimmick. It doesn’t have to be a mobile tokador (vanity table). All you need are these basic make-up products:

•Blusher
•Eye Shadow
•Eyebrow Color
•Eyeliner
•Face powder
•Foundation
•Lip brush
•Lip liner
•Lipstick
•Mascara
•Moisturizer

To keep your kikay kit light and compact, look for make-up in small packaging. Buy a tiny case that has a blusher and eye shadow in neutral colors. Opt for the shorter eyeliner/eyebrow and lip liner pencils, lip brush and mascara. Repack the liquid foundation and moisturizer into small containers that you can find in the beauty bar.

Here are the steps in using the contents of your basic kikay kit for applying simple or everyday make-up:

  1. Moisturize your face and neck before applying make-up. Let it soak for a while before proceeding to step# 2.
  2. For a natural look, choose a foundation that matches your skin tone. Apply evenly for a smooth effect. Start around the hairline and work your way down to the throat area. Keep blending until the part where the make-up ends is no longer noticeable.
  3. Apply face powder with a powder puff. Use a brush to dust off excess powder and achieve a flawless look.
  4. Follow this up with a blusher to brighten your face. Smile. The apples of your cheeks will be noticeable. Start on the apple and follow the cheek bone all the way to the temple. Put only a little blusher on the brush and layer gradually so you don’t end up like looking like a clown. Keep blending with the brush until a natural blush is achieved.
  5. Apply eye shadow, eyeliner and mascara. Eye shadow usually comes in three shades. The darker one goes on the crease of the eye, the lighter shade on the lid and the lightest shade under the brow bone. You may skip the mascara if you desire a more natural look for daytime. Be very gentle with the eye area because the skin here is very delicate and will wrinkle easily.
  6. Outline your lips with a lip liner that matches the color of your lips. Complete coloring the lips by applying lipstick with a lip brush. Blot with tissue and re-apply lipstick to keep the color in longer.
  7. Finish by lightly powdering the rest of your face with pressed powder.

Let that old flame or karibal show up anytime. This handy kikay kit always saves the day!
