Cheat Your Age! 10 Things You Can Do Daily To Outsmart Aging

Yup! You’re bound to age… and you feel it as you trudge through your daily activities. Laugh lines become deeper. Chin sees double. Breasts head south.Horrified yet? Take heart, girl. Check out your to-do list of 10 proven secrets you can do each day to age-proof yourself!

  1. Hit the sack.Getting 8 hours of sleep is good for you. But be sure to sleep correctly.Place two 2x4’s under the head of your mattress so your upper body is slightly elevated. This will prevent blood from pooling in your eye sockets.
  2. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Drinking water helps to detoxify and improve muscle tone. Do cut down on coffee and drink more warm water with a squeeze of lemon and a little honey. Coffee tends to dehydrate, while water keeps the body and skin nourished.
  3. Nuke free radicals with antioxidants. Free radicals attack healthy cells and cause them to die or mutate. The wise thing to do is to keep on rejuvenating those cells for longer life. So get a load of antioxidant vitamins such as A, C, E with Selenium, Glutathione, Green tea, Grape seed extract and beta carotene.
  4. Moisturize your peepers. The eye area is the first part of your face that gives your age away. Prevent crows feet by maintaining the right fluid balance around the yes. Women even in their 20s to 30s should use a suitable moisturizer around the eye area. Apply an oil-free sunscreen on the face, plus a daily moisturizer under make-up.
  5. Pop an aspirin. Good ol’ aspirin taken everyday slows arterial aging, decreases the risk of colon, esophageal and breast cancer. Just be sure to drink warm water before and after you consume the aspirin to reduce acidity on stomach lining. 325 milligrams a day will do.
  6. Luxuriate in green tea. Green tea is an antioxidant that helps fight skin aging caused by pollution, smoking and sun exposure. Green tea also firms up the skin and nourishes it, creating a more youthful appearance. Best to sip slowly to be able to enjoy the comforts and pleasure of this warming antioxidant.
  7. Limber up your mind. When you have that decision-making latitude, your real age is reduced.A working mind and a healthy body will keep you young. Teaching, albeit difficult, is one job with a vast decision-making latitude and noble, too!
  8. Think happy thoughts. One of the most powerful age defying secrets is carrying a positive mental attitude. Ask people about their success and they’ll tell you about being positive about their lives and looking at the “lessons” when challenges come their way. Having the right attitude should really be up there on your list.
  9. Move your body. Walk. Dance. Jump. Stretch. Whatever it is, keep moving. Hear this. With regular exercise, you can control your genes and reduce ‘real age’ (the actual age of your body, as opposed to your age in birthdays) by 29 years!
  10. Be alive with Yoga + Love. An ancient practice that’s enjoying revival. Yoga allows you to be less concerned with things that are temporary and uncontrollable. It gives you inner calm and peace. Also, it helps you to accept the inevitable like growing old. So don’t worry too much about wrinkles, but invest in love. That loving feeling will keep you ageless!

getting back natural hair color

Oh, yes, Mica, it's definitely possible. Only, the hairdresser should be able to determine the level of  your natural hair color correctly. For Filipinas, it may range from level 2 to 3. There are actually hair dressers who are well-trained on the level system.

why oh why?

With all due respect, why is covering your grey hair not included in the list? I think that's one of the best ways to outsmart one's age. Honestly, even if one looks fit but has lots of grey hair, she looks old. My 18 year old was complaining on our recent trip to the US because 3x somebody asked if he was my hubby! heehee.

Covering greying hair

Oo nga ano! Why is it that salt and pepper hair looks great on a man but not on a woman?

I haven't colored my hair in 3 years... if you count highlights are coloring the hair. I will consider coloring mine when it comes to the point that I've got more white hairs that I can bear to look at.

Isn't it possible to get your natural hair color back after it's turned white kaya?

Funny,tho I do the opposite and wants to put colours in my hair and gold or silver might just do it.

A quick fix for grey hair

I was told by a friend that a quick fix for a few grey hairs is to brush mascara on them!  I suppose this only applies if you got one or two stray greys and don't want to pull them out. 

Also another good use for a black mascara is to brush it on your eyebrows for that well groomed look! I've tried it and it works!

Walk before eating

According to Jon Benson, walking before eating in the morning helps you burn even more bodyfat. And boy, do I need to burn some bodyfat. :-) Great tips!

A few minutes walk to the bus stop

Mica, does a couple of minutes walk to the bus stop to drop off my son counts as walking? :-)

Then I wouldn't feel so guilty in indulging these days. 

If somebody talks about body fat, I just cover my ears with my hands and say lalalalalala.

Anna, if your strides are as wide as that of the girl in the photo (see above), then ya, those walks to the bus stop could burn some fat. Do you walk like that?
