Dr Navarro's DIETARY and LIFESTYLE recommendations

Submitted by maan on Sun, 11/16/2008 - 03:02.

I am currently attending the annual conference of PCAM, The Power of Natural Healing.  One interesting speaker today is Dr. Robin B. Navarro who wowed the audience as he encouraged people to eat Bulalo, Butter, Eggs with yolk and cheese, contrary to what the traditional doctor says.  I will expound on his talk on a different blog but I will just post here his suggestion for proper nutrition and lifestyle.

DIETARY and LIFESTYLE RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Rest: 8 hours of sleep
Exercise/Activities Recommended: (at least 30 mins. Daily or as you are able)

2. Diet:
* Rejuvenating Food
Eat daily: at least 4 soft-boiled duck eggs and 2-3 glasses of whey or full cream milk. May take cottage cheese (kesong puti) or yogurt as an alternative to milk

* Energy Food
As source of complex carbohydrate: unpolished rice (if not available you may add wheat germ or rice bran to rice), whole wheat, potato or sweet potato or other tubers, rolled oats, wild honey, palm sugar

* Body-building Food
Meats coming from ruminants like cow (beef), carabao (carabeef), lamb, goat, deer and poultry: free-ranged chicken, duck, turkey. NOTE: Remove all fats (tallow) the tail fat and those coming from the entrails, the kidneys, the fatty lobe attached to the liver. Marbled fat and bone marrow are a good source of choline.

* Regulatory Food
Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits and drink at least 8 glasses of water.

4. Food to AVOID: Avoid eating...

1. Margarine and Polyunsaturated oils (safflower, corn, sunflower, soybean, cottonseed and canola)
2. Pork and pork products like bacon, longganisa, tocino, ham
3. Seafoods like crabs, oysters, shrimps, squids, lobsters, prawns, etc.
4. Fish without fins and scales like hito, swordsfish, tambacol, tanguigue, tulingan, stingray, etc.
5. Foods with preservatives, food colorings and artificial flavorings and sweeteners.
6. White and brown sugar including corn syrup.
7. Milk - skimmed or nonfat, filled and condensed
8. Distilled water, soft drinks, artificial fruit juices
9. Processed, refined and fried foods including iodized salt
10. Exposure to pesticides and other pollutants

I see great possibilities here!

There are two ways on focusing on this list. We either focus on the Do's and be thrilled, or focus on the list to avoid and get depressed.

In my case, I was excited to see carabao, deer, duck and turkey and the list of carbohydrates. :-) Marbled fat and bone marrow... celebrate good times, come on!

On the foods to avoid: pork... aray, I love pork but I do try to stay away... really hard to do. The rest is easy.

What's the reason for avoiding seafoods without fins?
