TODAY'S TIDBIT:
“People do not put new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. Rather, they pour new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.” – Matthew 9:17
I always start my day with a prayer and unless I have to rush off somewhere at the break of dawn, I make time to read the scriptures. I find Companion, a Catholic Scripture Diary, very handy. I don’t have to search the Bible for the day’s reading. The reflection for July 5 in Companion holds a personal message for me: “It is important to be always open to the new things God might want to do with us.”
This month will mark the end of our store as a brick and mortar business. It’s a business I held on to for eight years. But, I have been given the opportunity to start again with new online businesses. It is scary to start anew especially in unfamiliar territory and at this slightly mature age of 33 (may the Lord not strike me with lightning for this, I promise to go to confession later.) I am not a techie. As a matter of fact I describe myself as technologically-challenged because I am always calling out to my sons for help with the computer.
With these changes in my life, I feel like new wine being blended. I am also grateful that the Lord is giving me new wineskins to sustain me – new business partners who are tech savvy. This realization allows me to step into this new life with confidence – my God is, after all, also the God of technology.
So it’s off with the old and on with the new.
