Dr. Victoria Belo or more popularly known as Vicki Belo is the “Cosmetic Surgeon of the Stars.” Her association with her famous patients has made her name a beauty byword. It has also elevated her to celebrity status with her name occasionally getting linked to these stars’ controversies.
What is little known to the masses that follow showbiz happenings is her being a pioneer in Philippine cosmetic surgery.

Her tireless research has brought many new procedures to the country such as Tumescent Liposuction, Microdermabrasion, Aptos Thread Facelifts and Stem Cell Auto Grafting (SCAG). Travelling at least once a month, she finds new machineries and learns new medical techniques that she offers to her patients.

She can be called the Medical Tourism Ambassador of the Philippines because her overseas exposure brings patients to our shores. She estimates that 60% of her patients are balikbayans. Of this figure, 50% come from the United States alone.

Her show Belo Beauty 101 featured in The Filipino Channel (TFC) makes her famous overseas. This new ace up her sleeve brings her that much closer to foreign-based Pinoys. Viewers get the lowdown on beauty and cosmetic surgery from the expert. A plus factor is an inside look on the beauty secrets of the Belo celebrity-endorser who co-hosts the show with her.
This blurb from the network further displays her wont to promote the country:
“Belo Beauty 101 highlights unique locations or events in the country that tourists can flock to. ‘This serves to erase the stigma most foreigners have about how unsafe and backward the Philippines is,’ Dr. Belo explains. ‘We’ll take them to the beautiful places in Manila and Luzon, so that will entice them more to visit the country again.’ “
Because of this exposure, Vicki says she is more popular abroad than she is at home. When she is in other countries, our kababayans would recognize her. And with that distinctive mark of Pinoys overseas, they ask for “picture-picture” with the famous Dra. Belo.

Through these activities, Vicki wants to make the Philippines known as the Beauty Capital of Asia. She laments that when visitors come to the Philippines they see some things that are not pleasing to the eyes. She admits these are things she doesn’t have the power to change. But with her expertise, she can at least make Filipinos beautiful, one person at a time.

From the Belo Medical Group website, http://www.belomed.com, here are the latest treatments that will help the Filipina become more beautiful:
1. Aqua Lipo: Water-Assisted Liposuction (WAL). This liposuction uses water jet to flush out the fat and leaves the nerves and blood vessels intact. This method is less stressful for the patient than the conventional liposuction.
2. Carboxytheraphy. This is a non-surgical technique that improves the appearance of cellulite.
3. Fraxel. It is a laser treatment that resurfaces the skin to get rid of sun spots and age spots. It also diminishes uneven pigmentation, wrinkles and stretch marks.
4. Jet Peel. This is a superficial peel using pressurized oxygen to exfoliate the skin.
5. Multi-Clear. This pain free laser treatment uses wavelengths to treat skin problems like stretch marks, keloids and psoriasis.
6. Smartlipo. This liposuction uses laser to dissolve body fat with heat. The procedure is less bloody and the patient has faster post-op recovery.
7. Thermage. It is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment that tightens and gently lifts facial skin to remove wrinkles and define facial contours. (Personal note: this is included in my wish list as I’m terrified of any bodily invasions especially of the cutting, bloody kind. I got a tip from Vicki for budget-watchers like me. An option to this is the Multi-Polar treatment. It has more sessions but easier on the wallet.)
8. V-Beam. This is a laser system that removes warts, birthmarks, spider veins and other skin imperfections.

Aren't we beautiful enough?

I thought Filipinas are one of the most beautiful people on earth.? I am not suggesting we should deny ourselves some perks like this. Just curious. I quite the idea of liposuction to get rid of my multiflying cellulites. In the meantime,Im quite happy having them. Just thought, no Filipinas needn't go into changing the way they look.

If 50% from USA what about the 10%?

Beautiful Pinays

Corina, I agree, Pinays are beautiful! Not just because of the mix with other races that produce a good-loking blend but the friendly, happy, caring nature inherent in us. Beautiful inside out. But it would be nice to get these perks once in a while. Me, I'm deathly afraid of lipo so I will just exercise and live with the stubborn love handles. I wouldn't mind a non-surgical tightening of my face though so when I lie about my age, it's not so obvious I'm lying. Hehehe.

Btw, about Dr. Belo's balikbayan patients, she mentioned a lot are from the Middle East. That's why they're setting up a clinic in Dubai. I think others are from Europe because TFC makes her popular there.

Body shape

Shall we go for the Belo Shape then Lella? I think Belo will make a lot of money from my endless cellulites mind you haha. It isn't cheap but I can see why the clients are mostly balikbayan. It is very costly in here.

Let me know when you want to go Lella and I can start saving (smiles). I have mentioned this as a joke to hubby and he said, am I going nuts? He said men prefer their women the way they are, cellulites or no cellulites.

I guess,we are living in a world of competitions amongs ourselves, though,we won't admit it by saying it is for our own confidence. Nevertheless, we can say it is no difference than getting a new hairdo or getting our nails done. The difference IS the price.

Cellulite

According to medical intuitive, Carol Ritberger, cellulite is the unhealthy brown fat that is produced by the liver due to poor diet. Before undergoing liposuction, she suggests that we undergo cleansing first. Adding greens to our diet and switching to a healthier diet will cleanse our liver and boost the immune system.

A natural liver cleanse or liver detox is suggested. This will reduce the brown fat produced by the liver. If we still insist on liposuction, and don't switch to a healthier diet, the surgery would have been done in vain and we will be back to having the cellulite 3 or 4 years after the liposuction.Yan ang aray!

Price of Beauty

Let me buy a lotto ticket Corina, then if I win I'll be able to afford the Belo Shape :))

How sweet naman your hubby - "I love you just the way you are" (parang kanta ba?)

Natural way to remove cellulite

Hi Corina! There is a natural way to remove cellulite and its called body brushing. Choose a brush with natural bristles and brush upwards from lower to the upper thighs for 5 minutes a day. Body brushing stimulates our lymphs and removes toxins (cellulite). You can also apply a seaweed mask on those dimpled body parts. Most of all, stay away from processed food, animal meat and fat, breads and sugars! What do you think?

Thanks for the tips Rissa

I agree with your tips Rissa. I just have to find the time to do my routine facial and body scrub. When I am on holiday I do my utmost to follow this routine.Sadly, being on my feet all day and work almost 7 days a week and get hardly sleep I find it hard to keep on beauty routines.

I have been going to gym for years and eat healthy food apart from my penchants for PInoy sweets that is....Sadly,I have to give up heavy exercise routine since I do runs out of breath or short of breath.  But, thank you for reminding me this basic cellulites buster routine,I might just do it again...or else give up my ensaymadas "not".

Multi-Polar

I heard Thermage hurts both the face and wallet. So I might have to join you with the Multi-Polar procedure! Btw, Vicki Belo is looking incredible!
