Think that going on a juice fast is the best move there is to detoxify? There is another, yoga moves and poses can aid in cleansing your body. Certain detox exercises are best in stimulating lymph drainage, increasing blood flow, and stimulating inner organs according to Yogi Linda Naulty of Yoga Manila.Take for instance twisting, twists increase peristalsis, the constriction and relaxation of intestinal muscles, and clears stagnation. An example is the Half Lord of the Fishes Pose where you sit on the floor, cross one bent leg over the other then, twist your body as you inhale and hold. Exhale as you return to previous position. The pose is said to help send blood through the liver (the liver, along with the kidneys, is the repository of toxins and wastes). Here’s how to do the Half Lord of the Fishes Pose:Step 1. Sit on your mat with legs stretched straight out in front of you.Step 2. Bend both knees. Keep your feet flat on the floor. Now, slowly slide your left foot under your right leg, so that it rests on the floor by your right hip. Bring your right foot over your left leg, so that it stands on the floor next to your left thigh. Point your right knee straight up toward the ceiling.Step 3.Take your left arm and insert it under your right knee, reaching towards your back. Twist gently to the right. Inhale then stretch your right arm up. Exhale, and bring your right arm down around your back, to your right buttock and left hand. If possible, clasp your hands together.Step 4.Further your twist to the right. Press your inner right foot into the floor, opening the right groin and lengthening the torso. Drop your shoulder blades and lean back slightly, lifting your sternum to the ceiling and pressing your tailbone into the floor. Gently, turn your head either to the right or left; either look behind you, or over your shoulder at your right foot.Step 5.Hold this pose for 20 diaphragm breaths. Keep your sitting bones firm and even on the floor. Inhale and continue to lift your sternum. Exhale and increase the twist of your torso slightly. Twist evenly throughout your entire spine, not just your lower back.Step 6.Exhale and release. Step 7.Repeat on the other side.
