Most women do not offer what we consider "advice". Instead, women tend to be emphatic, eager to listen to a problem that we share with them, and reflect back to us what they are hearing. Unlike many men, who may be eager to tell us how to fix a problem or to give their opinion, many women instead will want to frame your problem in light of your particular circumstances. Or, when advising someone, we may talk about our own experiences, using our own stories to illustrate a point.

The seeming need of many women to talk about men indicates that perhaps we do not understand them, that we consider them different from us. Well, at the risk of severe generalization, are they?
